Few journalist close to the Timberwolves published about the currently situation of Jimmy Butler, apparently the player would be seriously contemplating his future in Minnesota. All could depend on a meeting with the franchise front office and head coach Tom Thibodeau.
There have been reported chemistry issues between Butler and some of Minnesota’s rising stars. At 29, Butler is not on the same career arc as Andrew Wiggins, 23, or Karl Anthony-Towns, 22, and has been unhappy with the effort those players put forth to help the team win.
The franchise board could think about cut ties with Butler and build around the youth in Minnesota.
Butler can become an unrestricted free agent following the end of the 2018-2019 season. He could become a serious trade candidate before the February deadline as the Timberwolves won’t want to lose him for nothing. That’s according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Thibodeau is under tremendous pressure to re-sign Butler, for whom the Wolves traded Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and a No. 7 overall pick that turned into Lauri Markkanen in 2017.
Yahoo Sports published on monday that Karl Anthony-Towns has yet to sign his rookie-sale contract extension, but he prefer to wait till Jimmy Butler discuss his future in Minnesota.
